This may be a little off topic for these forums but...
Nori and I were talking and decided it'd be cool to have a Qhimm.com chess tournament :-p
I'm sure there are other people on Qhimm's that would like to play chess.
Would anyone be interested? |

If there's enough interest, then I'll come up with some way for people to register... e-mail me or something I guess?
We could play online Yahoo or something. Any place with online chess. |

| I cannot, because one game of chess takes approx. 30 minutes in real time, and through the internet it would take 2x longer ... i dont have so much time ... maybe on some weekend night ( 00:00 GMT ) |

Heh, a game of Go would be more interesting... although certainly not very time-effective |

Rubicant is also signed up.
If you don't think you're good but you know how to play, you could always play anyway |

Hmm so we need one more player. Anyway, in the meantime here is a bracket... I just kind of randomly matched people up... what do you think?

Awesome!! this is gonna be fun.. but i really play better in real life..
<edit>
I dont know if i like the whole playsite thing.. I think everyone should get Chess.net.. you download it and can pay for it if you choose.. If you dont choose to pay you can log on as a guest.. so everyone would have a guest number when they were on and we could use that to ID people.. though it changes everytime so we would have to have ICQ or AIM or something to let the other people know what we were listed as.. I dunno.. but this playsite thing is STILL loading in the background.. maybe its broken.. anyone else have any ideas? |

Nori and I have been playing on Yahoo Games, seems to work fine...
Anyway, the bracket has been updated with all 8 players (need 8 more for the 16 player tournament) and links to Qhimm.com profiles |

Updated again
You made it into the 16-player match, maybe if we get enough people we can have another 8-player match too. |

| Well, this seems to be coming along well. I'll be able to play on weekends only. So, Cadberry, since we are going to go against each other, we'll have to set some time to play. |

| No problem.. but i live in the states.. Central time.. so it might be harder than we think to make a match up.. or easier than we might think.. I am really crappy at figuring out time zones and stuff.. |

Qhimm.com Chess Tournament
Official Rules
- Arrange a time with your opponent to play (find your opponent on the bracket).
- You should play on Yahoo! Games, or some other site that lets you save the move history of your game when it is finished. (If you installed Windows XP SP1a or Windows 2000 SP4, you may need Java for your web browser - - see this)
- When the game is over, one of you should e-mail the game history to me (aaron_kelley@vanguard.org) or post it here. Both participants should agree on who won, of course.
- It will go on like this until there is a winner.
- Nori and I are trying to come up with a prize for winning, but we're still thinking
You can start now! Have at it.
These are up on the chess page too.
